Cesar's Way

By Cesar Millan

Cesar Millan is surrounded by controversy when it comes to his dog training methods but since he's so popular, particularly in America, I was interested to read what he had to say.

Cesar's way isn't a training book as such, but what it does teach is the importance of the mindset. Cesar is a big believer in projecting calm energy towards dogs, and this particular aspect of his training is one I agree with. Cesar's way teaches the importance of control, strong leading energy, and natural methods to calm a dog such as ensuring your pet has plenty of exercises.
He's actually quite convincing within the text in that he uses case studies to explain to the reader why he believes 'leading the pack' along with providing execise and mental stimulation is the way forward in raising a healthy, balanced and calm member of your family.
He also talks in here about the dogs he's rehabilitated, and credits imitating the wild pack and mother nature's way for teaching him what he needs to know in order to change problem dogs for the better.

What this book lacks however is the specific 'how to.' If you read this book and it resonates with you as a reasonable training mindset to adopt then you're going to be disappointed to find there are no step by step instructions in here to learn how to project a calm energy field!

Even if you don't agree with some of Cesar's methods (flooding etc) this is still an interesting book to pick up. I am a big believer in reading every training/behaviour book I can because there is ALWAYs something to think about within the pages. This book is no different and worth a look if only to prove you hold the right opinion of Cesar Millan.
